Mechanical Test Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Test Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a senior role where responsibilities include:
- Validation or design verification testing of product performance
- Testing of steel structures for stress, vibration and environmental influences
- Testing of mobile products such as robots for stress, wear, temperature, environmental influences (HALT and ALT)
- Design or specification of test fixtures and apparatus
- Day-to-day and hands-on testing efforts and reporting
- Management of external testing efforts and reporting
A highly qualified candidate will have/do:
- BS in Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10 years of electro-mechanical hardware test engineering/product testing
- Expertise in instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells, temperature sensing, etc.) and DAQ
- Design skills relative to test equipment and fixtures: drafting, part specification and documentation a plus
- Hands on assembly, prototype builds, and field fitment of sub-assemblies for design verification testing for mechanical and electrical aspects
- Contribute to design discussions concerning various aspects of the product, providing feedback to design engineering group
- Compilation of concise and coherent reports and presentations
- Experience with wind and snow (relative to ASCE 7)
- Experience with solar panel testing (relative to UL/CSA certifications)
- Experience with vibration testing (product and packaging)
- Mentor junior engineers, successfully lead a small team during the validation process
- Ability to support the design, testing, and initial installation of products in both national and international locations
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus
- Proficiency with MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
